A message from Miss Angelina

Dear Swiss Cottage Dance Pupils and Parents,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure at the end of August from Swiss Cottage Dance.  After a decade of teaching and running the administration for Swiss Cottage Dance with business partner, Stephen Hose, the time has come for me to hand over the reins.  Living so far away in Surrey and with a young family, has made it increasingly difficult for me to remain as involved with my pupils as I would like to be.

It has been a privilege to learn, teach and grow at Swiss Cottage Dance, to build a strong and vibrant dance program for pupils and trainee teachers and I am reassured that my successor will bring a fresh energy and the creativity required to make Swiss Cottage Dance grow from strength to strength.

I met Stephen Hose in 2002, as a substitute teacher in Swiss Cottage when the school was owned by the Vacani School of Dance.  Stephen and I shared the same passion and vision and both eagerly accepted the challenge and opportunity to buy the school when the previous owners retired.  Stephen and I became business partners and renamed the school Swiss Cottage Dance in 2003.  Stephen and I volunteered our time for almost two years whilst repaying our loan; and from 25 pupils participating in Saturday ballet classes in 2003 to 80 pupils in 2013, clearly much has been accomplished.

I want to offer my sincere appreciation for your faithful support and the many ways you have contributed to the success of Swiss Cottage Dance.  The children have always inspired me to strive to give the best and I know this sentiment is shared by my successor Amy Findlay.  Miss Amy currently teaches at Swiss Cottage Dance and is looking forward to starting in her new role as from September 2013.  Stephen Hose is delighted that Miss Amy has agreed to step on board as his new business partner; we both feel that Swiss Cottage Dance is on its way to even greater achievements under Miss Amy’s leadership.

Swiss Cottage Dance will always hold a special place in my heart; I have so enjoyed the past ten years and formed some wonderful friendships along the way.  I will miss the children, the parents and the Swiss Cottage Community Centre Team, not to forget to mention the tasty bacon sandwich in the cafe upstairs.

I wish you all the very best.

Sincerely

Angelina Spurrier
